Flurry of eatery openings set in the Sacramento area

A new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit restaurant opened Thursday in West Sacramento, part of a full plate of Sacramento-area eatery openings.

The Dickey’s outlet, at 2155 Town Center Plaza, is offering giveways and discounts through Saturday. The Dallas-based chain began opening franchises in the Sacramento area three years ago. The West Sacramento site is the fifth Dickey’s managed by local franchisee Jared Katzenbarger.

On Saturday, the renovated Denny’s restaurant at 2474 Sunrise Blvd. in Rancho Cordova will host re-opening ceremonies from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant, featuring locally-inspired designs and updated features, will offer discounts on some food items. The local remodel is part of the Denny’s “Heritage” campaign, with a goal of remodeling 70 percent of its nationwide restaurants by 2018.

Next Thursday, Elk Grove city officials will be on hand for ribbon-cutting festivities to formally open the new El Pollo Loco restaurant at 8428 Elk Grove Florin Road. The site had a soft opening in late September. The Costa Mesa-based chain, which specializes in Mexican-style grilled chicken, has more than a dozen restaurants in the Sacramento region and more than 400 company-owned and franchised restaurants nationwide.
