AAA: Jurisdictions statewide see sharp monthly declines in gas prices

Northern California saw a double-digit drop in gas prices for a third straight month, according to the latest AAA statewide gas price survey released Tuesday.

In its October survey, AAA said the average price of unleaded regular gas in the region was $3.58 a gallon, down a whopping 26 cents from the Sept. 9 survey.

Statewide, the average at-the-pump price was $3.59 a gallon, down 23 cents from last month. In Sacramento, AAA said the average cost for unleaded regular was $3.48 a gallon, a decline of 27 cents from September.

The least expensive average price in Northern California was in Marysville, at $3.33 per gallon. Yreka has the highest average price in the region at $3.82 a gallon.

“Low demand combined with abundant supply has kept downward pressure on global oil prices,” said Cynthia Harris, AAA Northern California spokeswoman, who added that at-the-pump costs could continue to fall well into the holiday season.
