The Sacramento Business Journal reported on its website Wednesday that Publisher Terry Hillman plans to step down on Oct. 31 to return with his family to their native state of Missouri.

Hillman, 45, succeeded Joanna Wessman as publisher in February 2012.

Officials of American City Business Journals, the Charlotte, N.C.-based parent company of Sacramento Business Journal and 39 other business weeklies and websites, said a search for Hillman’s replacement has begun.

Hillman, who has worked within ACBJ since 2002, has been offered an executive role at an unnamed company in Kansas City, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.
