The median asking price of small- and medium-size businesses for sale in the Sacramento area during this year’s third quarter was $225,000, according to San Francisco-based BizBuySell.com.
That was up from $217,000 in this year’s second quarter and a significant improvement over $200,000 in the year-ago third quarter of 2013.
Third-quarter calculations were based on 196 Sacramento-area businesses listed on BizBuySell.com, an online marketplace of for-sale companies. The Sacramento statistics are based on listing data, not on completed sales.
BizBuySell officials call the current market a good one for sellers. They also pointed to the improved performance of for-sale businesses: Firms listed for sale in the third quarter had a median revenue of $429,517, up nearly 20 percent from $360,000 in the year-ago period.
