International public relations firm Weber Shandwick said Wednesday that it has opened an office in downtown Sacramento.

It’s in the Park Tower building at 980 Ninth St.

Based in New York, Weber Shandwick has offices in 81 countries. Its California presence also includes offices in San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Los Angeles.

The local office is headed by Kathleen Siedlecki, executive vice president and U.S. director of “Health Impact” at Weber Shandwick. Her duties have included advising clients on public health communications. A Sacramento native, Siedlecki began her career as a congressional aide to former U.S. Rep. Vic Fazio.

“Weber Shandwick’s Sacramento office establishes a strong presence in the seat of power of the eighth largest economy in the world, in a state most often at the leading edge of business and social issues,” Siedlecki said in a statement.
