Sacramento really wants to pay you back.

The city on Wednesday released a list of 1,532 people and entities that have unclaimed property in city coffers.

Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates was one of those on the list – twice. The nonprofit is owed $1,500 but had no idea, said director Jim Brown.

“Well this is certainly good news,” said Brown. “I have no idea what that’s about.”

Brown added that he’d claim the money, whether he figured out what it was for or not.

“We’re a scrappy little nonprofit that can always use more money,” he said.

Those on the list have until until June 29 to file a claim for the funds, or else it will escheat to the city.

That’s legal talk meaning the city gets to keep your cash.
