You can reach out, touch the river from Northern California home listed for $4 million

A Carmichael home with 180-degree views of the American River, which flows right along the edge of its backyard, has hit the market for nearly $4 million.

The single-level riverfront estate — a modern residence with clean lines and walls of glass — “is like no other,” the property listing states.

“It was meticulously planned and lovingly built by the original owners,” according to House Real Estate, which holds the listing. “The attention to details is immediately apparent.”

Carmichael is about 12 miles from downtown Sacramento.

The exact asking price for the home, which was built in 2003, is $3.995 million.

The two-bedroom, three-bathroom residence at 1800 Jeffrey Lane spans 4,177 square feet on a 1.66-acre lot. An open floor plan is highlighted by soaring ceilings and walls of glass giving extraordinary views of the major Sacramento waterway throughout the house.

The primary bedroom features beautiful built-in cabinetry, two separate closets and an exercise area. A light-filled primary bathroom has a large curb-less shower, jetted tub and access to an expansive, gorgeous zen garden.

A second en-suite bedroom takes in river views and opens to the outdoor patio.

An adjacent lot is also available to the buyer, according to the listing.

The asking price puts the home in the same neighborhood as some of the most expensive in the Sacramento region, said Ryan Lundquist, a Sacramento appraiser and housing market analyst.

Since 2021, there have been 69 residential sales on MLS above $3 million in the Sacramento region, and 21 of those closed at $4 million or above. In Sacramento County, where the Jeffrey Lane property is located, the highest-priced sale ever was a home in Sierra Oaks Vista that went for $5 million a few years ago.

“The eye-catching design reminds me of a recent trip to Los Angeles and my visit to the Richard Meier-designed Getty Center,” said Sacramento Realtor Gaby Moreira, who is not associated with the Jeffrey Lane listing. “The stunning combination of stone, glass, and metal are used to create a clean and modern look without disturbing the site upon which it sits. The interior is just as breathtaking and reconnects its guests with one of Sacramento’s natural beauties—the American River. Natural light pours in through the abundance of windows and you’re surrounded by many of the area’s native oak, pine, and cottonwood trees.”

Within about two miles of the Jeffrey Lane home, there have been two sales in the past six months, one was $4 million and the other $4.1 million, according to Lundquist.

“Simply ICONIC!!” the listing touts about the house, which has been on the market for 17 days.

Dr. Dennis Marks, a Sacramento pediatrician and philanthropist who died in 2022 at the age of 92, and his wife, Nancy, bought the property in 2000, according to public records. The property is owned through the Marks Family Trust.

The listing agent is Carmah Hatch of House Real Estate.
