A real-time local entertainment app developed by Sacramento-based tech startup Wyndow Inc. was made available for download Wednesday for iOS and Android.
The Wyndow app is available at the Apple App Store and Google Play. Both companies said Wednesday morning that the apps are live but will probably take some time to spread through their online stores.
The location-based app provides users with “near instantaneous” location-based information about local events and attractions, enabling users to find nearby entertainment options without opening multiple apps or browser windows.
The company said the app can pinpoint the user’s location, displaying events occurring within the vicinity, and not displaying events that have already occurred.
The Wyndow app aggregates data from multiple sources – including ticketing companies, local venues and social networks – to give users a selection events/attractions that are available within a given user’s window of free time.
Listings options wine tastings, theater performances, movies, major concerts and sporting events. Tickets also can be purchased via the app.
“We’re thrilled to make it fun, fast and easy for both travelers and locals to discover the best local experiences that are available when they are,” said Oleg Kaganovich, Wyndow founder and CEO. “Wyndow’s software engine captures, normalizes and refines millions of entertainment choices into a manageable number of available, accessible and relevant options.”
For movies, Kaganovich claims Wyndow “is easier to use than Fandango,” displaying a user’s specific window of available time and within a desired travel distance. All movies that are not a logistical fit immediately disappear from the display, he said.
In addition, Kaganovich said, the Wyndow app works in other metro markets throughout the United States, and abroad.
