The Sacramento Kings opened up their court to more than just basketballs. On Friday, Sacramento residents swarmed Sleep Train Arena and surrounding areas in search of Pokémon.
Nine-year-old Jamar Lee was in attendance with his older sister and mother when he spotted a Pidgey on the court. “I really want to catch as many Pokémon as I can. I’m having a great time,” he said.
The NBA team is the first to host a “Pokémon Go” meet up, which lasted from 4 to 8 p.m. Hundreds of people traveled in herds to visit the two Pokéstops outside of the arena.
Groups in attendance ranged from families, middle schoolers and crowds of 20- to 40-somethings.

“Me and my wife were mid-teenagers when Pokémon was really big. I wanted to download it and see what it was,” said Mike Maryman, a Natomas resident. “We heard about the event and thought, ‘When else could I get on this court?’ ”
