A justice conference will be held Tuesday through Thursday at Merced College. Presented by the campus Students for Social Justice and sponsored by Associated Students of Merced College, the conference aims to raise awareness about atrocities and injustices and to promote dialogue to find short-term and long-term solutions, organizers say. Valley Fever Awareness Day

Youth Soccer Challenge
Boys and girls ages 9 to 14 from Merced, Planada, Le Grand, Chowchilla and Mariposa are invited to participate in the Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge. The competition will be held Saturday at Planada Elementary School, 9525 E. Brodrick St., Planada. Preregistration begins at 9 a.m. and the event starts at 11. Center’s 20th anniversary
The Merced Senior Community Center will celebrate its 20th anniversary from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The activity-filled celebration will be open to the public. The center is at 755 W. 15th St.
Retired women luncheon

Merced Elks golf tournament
The Merced Elks Lodge will hold a charity golf tournament Sept. 27 at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Green Sands Ave., Atwater. The shotgun start is at 1 p.m. and check-in is 11:30 a.m. with lunch available at noon. There will be a raffle, team prizes and closest-to-the-hole prizes. Atwater Tea Party meeting
The regular monthly meeting of the Merced-Atwater Tea Party will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, Fifth Street and Broadway Avenue. Barbara Levey, Merced County registrar of voters, will speak on the election process. Also on the program will be a candidates’ forum for the Atwater mayoral and City Council offices up for election in November. All candidates are expected to participate. Day of Prayer for Peace
The United Methodist Church of Merced is hosting a Day of Prayer for Peace at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 21 in the church’s courtyard. The church is at 899 Yosemite Park Way (use Laurel Street entrance). The international observance offers an opportunity for people of faith throughout the world to pray and act together to nurture lasting peace in the hearts of people, their families, communities and societies.
