Evacuations lifted in Storksbill Fire near Pilot Hill

Evacuations have been lifted in the Storksbill Road area near Forest Hill, where a wildland fire broke out early Friday afternoon.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reported that the fire started about 1:15 p.m.. It had burned about 60 acres and was 60 percent contained as of 5:50 p.m.

Cal Fire reported that the forward progress of the fire has been stopped, and all evacuations and road closures have been lifted.

According to Cal Fire, the fire was burning in grassy oak woodland. Structure defense was in place, but the fire had been spotting, Cal Fire reported.

Equipment used to fight the fire includes 10 fire engines, five air tankers, three helicopters, two bulldozers and four tenders, according to Cal Fire.
