A driver safety program for senior adults will be offered Aug. 24 in Yuba City by the Yuba Sutter area office of the California Highway Patrol.
Although the effects of aging on driving ability vary widely, seniors need to know that gradual changes in vision, flexibility and response times may compromise safety and eventually require them to stop driving, according to a CHP news release. The CHP’s Age Well Drive Smart program addresses these issues with the goal of helping older drivers drive safer and drive longer. It is open to senior drivers, as well as their family members or caregivers.
The Aug. 24 session will begin at 9 a.m. at the Rideout Conference Center, 989 Plumas St., Yuba City. To reserve a seat, call the Yuba Sutter area CHP at 530-674-5141.
The Age Well Drive Smart program is conducted in conjunction with the Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Aging, Safety Center, Occupational Therapy Association of California and Paratransit Inc. Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
