A fiery crash involving a semi-truck left traffic backed up in both directions of Highway 50 near Sunrise Boulevard during Monday’s afternoon commute.
The incident resulted in a shutdown of all westbound lanes of Highway 50 and the eastbound carpool lane, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash caused at least two vehicles to catch fire and sparked a grass fire.
One person suffered minor injuries but refused to be taken to a hospital, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District posted on Twitter.
The westbound lanes of Highway 50 remained clogged as of 6 p.m., with traffic reduced to one lane and backed up for miles.
