A big rig blocked two lanes on X Street during the Tuesday morning commute after snagging a large tree branch that landed on the cab, Sacramento police said.

Just before 9 a.m., the big rig was heading east down X Street when the driver hit a portion of a tree, said Sgt. Bryce Heinlein of the Sacramento Police Department. The truck traveled a short distance before stopping at the intersection with the limb on the cab, Heinlein said.

Driver Keith Mahan was standing outside the red Del Rio West Pallet Co. truck, but declined to comment.

Urban forestry crews from the Sacramento Department of Public Works removed the branch from the semi and cleaned the street.

Lanes at the intersection of X and 18th streets were partially blocked for a few hours.
