Town hall meeting about budget

Sacramento City Councilman Jeff Harris and Mayor Darrell Steinberg host a town hall meeting on the city’s annual budget for 2017-18. The 90-minute meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the South Natomas Community Center, 2921 Truxel Road. For information, call Harris’ office at 916-808-7003.

Caltrans Workers Memorial at Capitol

The state Department of Transportation will honor its 187 employees who have lost their lives on the job since 1921 at its 27th annual Workers Memorial at 11:30 a.m. on the west steps of the state Capitol. The memorial also highlights safety awareness for employees in work zones, as well as the motoring public.

Mather Field history shared

Sacramento author and librarian James Scott provides insight into the 100-year history of Mather Field, born from America’s need to train aviators for the Great War. Scott will appear Thursday evening in Rancho Cordova City Hall as a guest of the Rancho Cordova Historical Society. The two-hour meeting starts at 6 p.m. at 2729 Prospect Park Drive.
