The Grant Union High School drum line is reaching for the stars.

The Sacramento group is hoping to get the chance to go to South Africa and perform for the girls at Oprah Winfrey’s school, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, according to James Van Buren, drum adviser and teacher.

“This is going to be one of the biggest challenges we have encountered and we need your help,” Van Buren, also known as Mr. V, said on his Facebook page.

They’re hoping the community will help boost the signal by emailing the video to letters@hearst.com requesting that Oprah and company watch it and getting the video to go viral by sharing it on social media.

The drum line was founded in 2009 to give students a way to tap into their creativity and help them avoid getting into trouble, Van Buren said in a 2016 crowdfunding campaign for a previous Japan trip.

The group has gained national recognition, performing on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C., and for an assortment of nonprofit organizations.
