The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is investigating three possibly heat-related deaths that have occurred during the past week.
In each case, the person was found outside their residence in the heat for an unknown period of time, said Coroner Kimberly Gin. Whether the deaths were heat related won’t be known until test results are received. That could take at least four to six weeks, she said.
“These three people could easily have died from something else and just happened to be outside,” Gin said in an email. “We are just being extra cautious with our investigations during this heat wave.”
