A failed piece of equipment caused a power outage early Tuesday in East Sacramento, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District reports.
The outage affecting 2,501 SMUD customers was reported at 6:04 a.m. By 6:15 a.m., troubleshooters were on the scene, trying to reroute customers by moving them to a working circuit, according to Chris Capra, a for Sacramento Municipal Utility District spokesman.
Customers regained power by 6:45 a.m., and personnel are still on the scene fixing the malfunctioning equipment.
A transformer fire was also reported by SMUD at 65th Street and Elvas Avenue, but they are not sure whether this is related to the power outage, Capra said.
