Kids learned about casting and catching during a “Fishing in the City” event held Saturday by the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The pond at Florin Creek Park was stocked with hundreds of pounds of trout, and poles and bait were available for kids to use so they could learn or practice fishing. The department held a fishing demonstration teaching techniques, safety and ethics.
Kids under the age of 16 needed no fishing license to participate. Kids over 16 could fish with a license. Four more trout fishing events are planned in Sacramento County in February. Visit www.wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing-in-the-city/SAC for details.
