The Sacramento region grew slowly again last year, continuing a trend that began with the housing bust, according to estimates released Friday by the state Department of Finance.
About 2.234 million people lived in the four-county area on Jan. 1, 2015, up by 20,000, or 0.9 percent, from the prior year.
The estimates come as new housing starts in the region remain low, and as birthrates continue to fall.
Rancho Cordova saw more population growth – 1.9 percent – than any other city in the region. Davis, Winters and Colfax all saw slight population declines.
