Natural gas leak prompts Auburn-area evacuations, road closure

The Placer County Sheriff's Office is advising people to avoid Lincoln Way near Foresthill Road in the Auburn area due to a natural gas leak.

A vehicle ran into a gas line behind the McDonald's restaurant on Lincoln Way on Thursday afternoon, rupturing the line, according to a Sheriff's Office Facebook post about 3:45 p.m.

Buildings near the restaurant were being evacuated, and Ferguson Road residents were directed to shelter in place, the new release said.

Pacific Gas and Electric crews were en route.

The section of Lincoln Way is closed to traffic.
