One person was hospitalized Friday after a “significant homeless encampment fire” along the American River Parkway, the Sacramento Fire Department said in a social media post.

One homeless person living in the encampment was transported to a local hospital for burn injuries, the department said.

Crews were mopping up the site of the fire shortly after 11 a.m. Video from the scene shows a significant amount of charred debris and a pile of trash is also visible not far from the burn site.

Fire officials were not immediately available for comment Friday.
