Midtown businesses host Halloween pooch parade

Pooches dressed like pumpkins? Kids in carrot costumes? Healthy Halloween treats?

The Midtown Business Association is promising all these things and more at its annual Halloween Fair and Pooch Parade on Saturday.

The free festival will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Marshall Park, 28th and J streets.

Children are encouraged to wear “health care” or “produce related” costumes. Costumed pooches will compete for prizes, including a $100 Grateful Dog Daycare gift certificate.

The event also will feature healthy Halloween candy recipes, crafts and other activities.

Costumed dogs can strut in a Pooch Parade, which begins at 3 p.m. At 5 p.m., people and their pooches can trick or treat at nearby restaurants, including Harlow’s, Centro, Red Rabbit and INK.
