Flights grounded between SMF and LAX, result of shooting in Los Angeles

Sacramento International Airport officials are reporting flights to and from Los Angeles International Airport are being delayed Friday as a result of this morning’s shooting at the Los Angeles airport.

Federal Aviation Administration officials grounded flights to and from the Los Angeles airport this morning soon after a gunman reportedly opened fire at a federal security checkpoint, injuring several people. Officials at mid-morning said a suspect has been shot and is in custody.

Several flights from Los Angeles are currently being listed as one hour late. Sacramento officials are asking fliers to check with their airlines today for flight status.
