Sacramento-based The Niello Co. is expanding its auto-selling empire into the Roseville Automall.
On Tuesday, the company said it will relocate its current Acura dealership at Interstate 80 and Madison Avenue in Sacramento to the 22-year-old auto mall in Roseville. The new store is expected to open doors in December.
The Sacramento-based company said the Madison Avenue store will continue to function, selling certified pre-owned vehicles as well as service and parts operations. Years ago, the Madison Avenue site was the company headquarters. Company officials said the satellite store concept – having a dealership offering all the standard services, with the exception of new cars – is a new one for Acura.
Niello Acura Roseville at 150 Automall Drive will offer new and used vehicle sales, full and express service and parts sales. The move will result in 50 new jobs.

The 38,000-square-foot Niello Acura Roseville store will be on 6 acres near the mall’s North Sunrise Avenue entrance – in a dealership site vacated about two years ago by auto retailing giant AutoNation – and company officials said they anticipate opening doors soon after Thanksgiving.
This will be Niello’s first dealership in the Roseville Automall.
“This is a big win for Niello Acura customers in the Roseville/Rocklin area in terms of convenience and access to high-quality service,” said Rick Niello, president of The Niello Co. “It’s an even bigger win for Acura customers in the pre-owned market, because it gives them two locations to access what Acura itself considers its best pre-owned dealership on the West Coast.”
For years, The Niello Co., which dates back to 1921, chose to operate stand-alone dealerships outside the area’s dealership-packed auto malls. That changed in January 2008 when Niello opened a second BMW dealership in the Elk Grove Automall. At the time, Rick Niello pointed to a strong market of potential BMW buyers.
Niello spokeswoman Summer Wright said the upcoming move to the Roseville Automall was driven by multiple factors: “As part of our dealer agreement with Acura, the time had come to upgrade and expand our facilities. Business has grown significantly in recent years. Niello Acura is up almost 30 percent year-to-date.
“We looked at options to remodel Madison Avenue when an opportunity in Roseville presented itself. We’re a customer-focused business, and half our current market is in that region.”
The new Niello Acura Roseville site will be operated by Vince Gregory, who has led the Niello Acura team on Madison Avenue for 11 years. Chad Brown, currently the co-general manager of Niello’s Jaguar Land Rover Sacramento, will take over as general manager of Niello Acura Sacramento.
It has been a busy year for The Niello Co., which operates more than a dozen mostly high-end dealerships, most of those in the Sacramento area.
In July, it announced the acquisition of a Fiat franchise to operate on the site of the company's Maserati dealership at 2030 Fulton Ave. Rick Niello said that he ultimately wants to open an Alfa Romeo franchise at the same site – creating a one-stop, all-Italian-makes store on Fulton.
The company is building a 33,000-square-foot store at 3210 Auburn Blvd. to sell and service the Mini, the sporty, Euro-styled passenger car. That store is scheduled to open in January.
