In hopes of finding the missing owner of a Sammy Hagar-themed restaurant in Roseville, two motorcycle-riding friends say they plan to head to Fort Bragg.
Steve Pease, owner of Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill, was last seen Nov. 3 when he checked out of a Fort Bragg motel and drove off in a rental car. In Pease’s absence, the restaurant closed its doors.
With police assistance, the rental vehicle’s On-Star navigation/tracking system was turned on, but the system was unable to acquire a signal. That is not direct evidence that the vehicle is not operable, said Chris Maudru, who has taken a lead role among a group of friends who are searching for Pease. The rental could be in a parking garage or, more likely, in a remote area without service, Maudru said.
Maudru said that, using off-road motorcycles, he and another rider will search remote roadways. He said Pease’s friends also are in talks with a private investigator and a public relations firm.

Maudru also used Pease’s email account to send a message to everyone in his address book, soliciting their help in finding the missing businessman. He also has emailed every business within 50 miles of Fort Bragg with a “missing” poster.
Meanwhile, the Roseville Police Department said Wednesday it will follow up on leads generated from media attention, but will not be launching any search efforts.
