Expect chilly weekend nights as temperatures drop in Sacramento

Temperatures are expected to cool down dramatically Friday, after hitting a record 80 degrees at Sacramento Executive Airport on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service is predicting clear skies and temperatures in the mid-60s through the weekend. Overnight lows on Saturday and Sunday are expected to drop into the 30 degree range.

By Tuesday, a small system is forecast to move into the region, offering up a slight chance of rain.

“We’re not looking at a big storm at this point,” said weather service forecaster Mike Smith. “Couple tenths of an inch would be the high end.”

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 68. North northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the evening.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming west southwest around 5 mph in the morning.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38. South southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 66. Light southwest wind.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 40.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 67.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Tuesday: A slight chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 65.

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70.
