What: The 25th anniversary of the dedication of the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial will take place in Capitol Park in Sacramento. A motorcycle procession will travel to the memorial, where there will be ceremonies, information booths, vendors, food trucks and displays.

Veterans’ mementos

What: After visiting the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial, walk over to the the nearby California State Archives to view the Veterans Memorial Memento exhibit featuring uniforms, medals, patches, poems, posters and more. Guests can share their own memories in a guest book.

Learn to prune

What: The Sacramento Tree Foundation is hosting a tree-pruning workshop at the Southgate Library. A variety of pruning tools will be shown and discussed in this indoor class. Weather permitting, there will be a walkabout on the library grounds to examine tree structure and pruning.

Tree lighting

What: Holiday festivities will brighten up Saturday night with the annual tree lighting at Fountains at Roseville. Attractions will include bell ringers, caroling and visits by Cinderella Company characters Cinderella and Belle. There will also be appearances by Placer Theatre Ballet’s “Nutcracker” cast.

Chanukah celebration

What: Chanukah Wonderland, presented by Chabad Jewish Community Center of Folsom/El Dorado Hills, will feature carnival games, crafts and a bubble show. The family event will also serve up Israeli food, hot latkes and doughnuts.
