Cold Sacramento-area mornings give way to warming afternoons

For those heading out for Black Friday shopping, don’t forget to bring a jacket.

Temperatures are expected to hover in the low 40s this morning and gradually warm, beginning at 10 a.m. The high temperature for today will hit 68 degrees, the National Weather Service predicts.

“It’s mostly sunny today,” said Mike Smith, weather service forecaster.

Saturday will see similar temperatures. The Sacramento region is unlikely to experience any precipitation through the weekend, Smith said.

Here’s the seven-day forecast:

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind becoming north/northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Friday night: Patchy fog after 4 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 42. Calm wind.

Saturday: Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 67. Calm wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the morning.

Saturday night: Areas of fog after 4 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 44. Light north/northwest wind.

Sunday: Areas of fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 67. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the morning.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 63.

Monday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 56.

Tuesday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 54.

Wednesday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 53.
