Sunny skies for Sacramento area after fog clears out

Sunny skies should dominate the Sacramento area’s weekend weather after the patchy fog clears out, the National Weather Service predicts.

“It’s going to heat up right around 70 degrees,” said weather service forecaster Johnny Powell, noting that the fog is caused by “long days and moisture near water ways.”

Overnight lows are expected in the 40s for Saturday and Sunday. A system moving into the region Tuesday will drop some rain and leave a mass of cold air behind, Powell said

“It’s a cold storm,” he said. “Wednesday overnight temperatures might drop down into the 20s in some areas.”
