Sacramento police seek suspect, person of interest in Thanksgiving Day homicide

Sacramento police have identified a suspect and a person of interest in the Thanksgiving Day shooting death of a woman in a north Sacramento neighborhood east of Robla.

Avery Draughty is wanted in connection with the shooting of 31-year-old Tiffany Silva, who was shot in the 3700 block of Balsam Street about 2:50 p.m. Nov. 28. Detectives identified Draughty early in the investigation as a person of interest and that has now led to a warrant for his arrest, according to a Police Department news release.

Police said it is believed that Draughty, along with his girlfriend Wanette Armstrong, fled the scene of the shooting in what witnesses described as a two-door white vehicle or a gold-colored Saturn.

Armstrong is sought as a person of interest in the case. Silva reportedly was shot shortly after coming into contact with Armstrong.

Anyone with information regarding Draughty or Armstrong is asked to call the Police Department’s dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357, or text a tip to 274637. Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
