Second female pedestrian sexually attacked along I-80

A second woman in three months has been dragged down an embankment and sexually assaulted along Interstate 80.

The most recent attack occurred about 9 p.m. Tuesday when a woman was walking from a bus stop on Madison Avenue near I-80. A man dragged her down an embankment to a wooded area near the Madison Avenue off-ramp and sexually assaulted her.

He is described as a black man in his 20s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 205 pounds. He had short black hair, brown eyes and wears glasses.

The attacker was wearing a gray t-shirt and blue jeans.

The sexual attack in some ways resembles a similar report that happened Sept. 19 at Watt Avenue and I-80. In that incident, a woman was walking to work about 5 a.m. when she was forced down a small embankment to a point where she was out of view of passing motorists and pedestrians.

In that incident, the attacker was described as a black man, 20 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds and wearing a black leather jacket, black or dark colored jeans and black or dark boots.

Detectives say it is too early to say if the two assaults were committed by the same man. More investigation is needed before it can be determined if a link can be made between the two crimes.
