What: During Mountain Mandarin Orchard Days, several Placer County growers will open their orchards and farm stands to the public for a taste of local citrus. See how mandarins grow while obtaining fruit direct from farmers. Most locations also offer crafts and fun activities to go with their fruit.

Meet Mrs. Claus

What: Santa’s better half, Mrs. Claus, will pay a visit to the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California’s Girl Scout Shop. The event includes games, crafts and an opportunity to pose for photos with Mrs. Claus. People who bring a donation of school supplies for the Girl Scout’s World Thinking Day education event will receive a coupon for 25 percent off items at the Girl Scout Shop, which sells scout merchandise and products for troops, leaders and alumni. Girl Scouts Heart of Central California, which has its headquarters in Sacramento, serves nearly 29,000 girls in 18 counties in Central California, including Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado and Yolo.

What: Dozens of sweet confections will be on display at the 26th annual Gingerbread Holiday gingerbread house display at the Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum. The structures will include houses, mansions, shacks and other creations built by schoolchildren, families, bakery academy students and adults.
