Fairytale Town offers free admission Tuesday

Fairytale Town is offering free admission to families who visit the park on Tuesday, Christmas Eve. The playground in Sacramento is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests who are in Fairytale Town by 2 p.m. can play until 3 p.m.

Farmers market returns to midtown on Saturday

The Midtown Farmers Market, featuring locally grown produce, prepared food and arts and crafts, takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday at 2020 J St. in Sacramento. The weekly event is sponsored by the Midtown Business Association.

Sing along to the ‘The Sound of Music’

The “Sound of Music” sing-along returns to the Crocker Art Museum, 216 O St. in Sacramento, for the second straight year on Thursday. With performances at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., participants can expect costume contests, door prizes and goodie bags. General admission is $12; college students and children 17 and younger, $10; museum members, $6. With space limited, it’s recommended that tickets be bought in advance.

Make a holiday decoration at the Discovery Museum

The Discovery Museum Science and Space Center is offering kids 12 and under the opportunity to make a paper drop ornament Tuesday. Many colors of construction papers are available to represent different winter holidays. Admission includes an animal presentation at noon, the Space Quest exhibit and a planetarium show at 1 p.m. for kids 4 and older. Admission is $8 general; $7 for seniors; $7 for teens 13-17; $6 for children 4-12; free for children 3 and younger. The museum at 3615 Auburn Blvd. in Sacramento closes at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Get into Foothill Skate free with food donation

Foothill Skate Inn is holding the last of its “skate on your can” nights of the holiday season from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Admission to the skating rink at 4700 Auburn Blvd. in Sacramento is free for those who bring two cans of food that will be donated to needy families in the community. Skate rental is $2; roller blades, $3.

Children’s Museum offers yoga class for tots

The Sacramento Children’s Museum is offering a yoga class for children 3 years and under at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Adults will be able to breathe, play and connect with their little ones, who will practice yoga through guided movement, songs, story and play. The class is held in a closed-off area of the museum at 2701 Prospect Park Drive in Rancho Cordova. The class is free, but general admission to the museum is $7.
