Highway 50 in El Dorado Hills will be closed to traffic in both directions for approximately two hours Sunday morning to allow for blasting work.
The closure will extend from El Dorado Hills Boulevard/Latrobe east to Bass Lake Road, and is scheduled from 6 to 8 a.m., although officials said the work might be completed in less than two hours.
During the closure, traffic will be routed through Serrano Parkway. Motorists traveling east from El Dorado Hills will detour on El Dorado Hills Boulevard to Serrano Parkway to Bass Lake Road. Those traveling west from Cameron Park will take Bass Lake Road to Serrano Parkway to El Dorado Hills Boulevard.
The work is part of a $57 million El Dorado County multiphase project to build a new Highway to interchange at Silva Valley Parkway, according to a California Department of Transportation news release. The construction contract was awarded in November to Meyers and Sons Construction for $29.7 million.
