The state Department of Transportation will host open houses this evening in Loomis and May 28 in Newcastle to inform the public about a major upcoming project in that area.
Caltrans staff will be available to provide information on schedules, alternate routes, community impacts and benefits of its Interstate 80 Vertical Clearance Project, which will raise nine overcrossings on the freeway between Magra and Loomis.
Six of the structures will have the bridge deck raised approximately two feet and three will have the roadway below lowered to achieve the necessary clearance.
Tonight’s open house in Loomis will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Loomis Train Depot, 3640 Taylor Road. The May 28 meeting in Newcastle will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Newcastle Elementary School, 8951 Valley View Drive.
