A multi-agency DUI crackdown netted 55 arrests Friday and Saturday in Sacramento County.
Officers from 17 law enforcement agencies joined the Memorial Day weekend “directed enforcement” campaign aimed at drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs. The campaign includes sobriety check points, regular patrols and “saturation” patrols targeting specific areas, said Officer Andrew Bates of the Folsom Police Department.
A similar effort last year led to 47 arrests during the same Friday-Saturday period of the long holiday weekend. This year’s Friday-Saturday numbers were provisional as of Sunday evening, because some participating agencies had not reported arrest figures.
The “Avoid the 17” campaign continues through Monday.
