Weekend construction caused heavy traffic on Interstate 80 in the Natomas area Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The $133 million project started this weekend in the eastbound lanes to repave the lanes in the 10-mile stretch between Capital City Freeway and the Yolo County line. Lane closures and delays are expected during the project, which could continue until 2016.
There was also a non-injury car fire that backed up traffic on I-80 and temporarily closed at least one lane, according to CHP. It was unclear whether the accident was in the east- or westbound lanes.
