A grass fire on Highway 99 near Florin Road caused minor damage Friday to nearby self-storage units, the Sacramento Fire Department said.
Crews that responded to the blaze around 12:40 p.m. quickly extinguished the fire, but not before flames caused smoke and fire damage to a couple of storage units on 55th Street, department spokesman Roberto Padilla said. No injuries were reported.
“We had a little bit of trouble accessing the site, so we don’t know if it started at the storage site,” he said. “Self-storage unit fires can spread quickly, so getting it knocked out early kept it from causing a lot of damage.”
