Good morning. Here’s what you need to know today:
Hot, hot hot: The late-summer heat wave in Northern California will continue today, with near triple-digit temperatures forecast, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature in downtown Sacramento, which reached 103 degrees Friday, is expected hit 99 today, according to the weather service. “We’re looking at pretty hot temps” this weekend, said Tom Dang, weather service meteorologist. “Sunday is forecast for 98 degrees, but really it’s just nominal cooling.”

The Hagar family agreed to take the reins of the popular downtown eatery in June, months after former owner Steve Pease abruptly disappeared and was later found dead in the Pacific Ocean. The Roseville Community Development Corporation, a city-affiliated nonprofit that had loaned Pease $1.5 million, foreclosed on the property in April, setting the stage for new ownership.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. and continuing for five to seven hours, motorists in the area of Arden and Challenge ways will be stopped by officers looking for signs of alcohol or drug impairment. Officials warn that motorists caught driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol face arrest, including jail time, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
