Flu season is back and for the first time in several years, it’s coupled with limited COVID-19 requirements throughout California.

Every year around this time, the same question resurfaces: Can I get the flu shot and the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time? Yes, in fact many public health officials are encouraging you to do so as the new bivalent booster was made available Wednesday to young children.

Retail pharmacies offering flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines

Retail pharmacies scattered across the Sacramento area are offering flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines. Residents who get their free flu shot at Safeway, according to Safeway’s website, get 10% off a grocery bill of up to $200.

Flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines can be scheduled at the same time on CVS Pharmacy’s website for both CVS Pharmacy and Target visits.

You can also schedule or walk-in at Rite Aid and Walgreens.

Pucci’s Pharmacy at 3257 Folsom Blvd. offers free walk-in flu shot appointments, according to Pucci Pharmacy’s website, with most insurances. Those looking to get a COVID-19 vaccine must schedule an appointment, but can also get a flu shot during the visit.

Town Pharmacy at 3403 Watt Ave. offers walk-in flu shot appointments. Those who are vaccinated at Town Pharmacy receive “15% off your over-the-counter purchase.”
