If you plan to spend the weekend in downtown Sacramento to support the Sacramento Kings in their first playoff game in 16 seasons, odds are you’ll be one of many looking for parking space, which could come at a premium.
Game 1 is set for 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Golden 1 Center against defending champions Golden State Warriors, but the events start Friday with a playoffs rally and free fan zone. City officials recommend having a parking plan before heading downtown.
If you plan to use a ride-share service, just remember prices typically surge when the demand for rides outweighs the number of available drivers.
Of course, you can walk to Golden 1 for free.
How to reserve a parking space near Golden 1 Center
The city parking website SacPark offers garage and lot reservations between $7 and $70 for Saturday’s game against the Warriors.
According to the city’s website, reservations for city-owned garages will open two hours before the game starts. The prices and hours of private partner lots vary.
As of Friday morning, parking reservations are open through Game 3, which takes place Thursday, April 20.
Metered parking near Golden 1 Center
Prices for city parking meters also go down within a three-block radius of Golden 1 Center when events exceed more than 15,000 people, according to the city.
Free rides on Sacramento Regional Transit
For those who don’t want to wrangle a space, Sacramento Regional Transit is offering free rides on its light-rail service to get to Golden 1 Center beginning at 2 p.m.
To get the free RT ride, simply print or screenshot this flyer to show the driver when you board.
