AAPI Night Market returns to Sacramento with food, vendors and R&B stars
Live music, food and retail vendors will pack into Capitol Mall next week, in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Month.
AAPI Night Market, hosted by the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce, will return downtown between Third and Sixth streets on Friday, May 19. The event will run from 6 to 10 p.m.
“The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Night Market is a celebration of the vibrant AAPI cultures that enrich every aspect of our community — the food we eat, the people we meet, and the region we call home,” the SACC stated on its website. The chamber reinvented its annual celebration into a night market last year.
Musical artists will headline the night market with R&B stars Joyce Wrice and Audrey Nuna. Both AAPI singers, Wrice and Nuna are emerging artists.
Wrice debuted in 2021 with her album “Overgrown,” which featured top names Freddie Gibbs, Lucky Daye, Esta and Kaytranada.
Nuna recently released a deluxe version of her record “a liquid breakfast” last year. It houses her latest hits “damn Right” and “Comic Sans” with Jack Harlow.
Other artists performing include Noodles and Sacramento natives Ru AREYOU and the East Wind Band.
The market will also feature more than 40 local AAPI-owned food and retail vendors, such as Azayaka Japanese Fusion, Blue House Korean BBQ and Pinorrito.
