Light rail and parts of C Street in Sacramento have been shut down near 12th Street after a report of a gas leak in the area, Sacramento fire officials said.
The incident began at around 12:15 p.m., said Roberto Padilla, of the Sacramento Fire Department. Crews from Pacific Gas and Electric, the local gas provider, were said to still be in route as of 12:50 p.m..
Brandi Ehlers, a spokeswoman for the utility, said a third party was digging in the area prior to the report. She said more would be learned soon, but believed the incident involves a smaller distribution line as opposed to a transmission line.
