The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 103 degrees for Thursday in Sacramento. On Wednesday the high reached a record 108 degrees. Temperatures dip a little on Friday when the afternoon maximum is expected to be in the high 90s.

Local air districts have declared another Spare the Air day as wildfires contribute to higher ozone levels in the Sacramento region. The air is forecast to be unhealthy for sensitive groups, and residents are encouraged to reduce their car trips. Riders can take Yolobus and Unitrans for free.
State water storage, ecosystems meeting
Learn about and provide feedback on state plans for water storage at a California Water Commission public session on the Water Storage Investment Program. The agenda includes a discussion of ecosystem and water quality priorities of the state Fish and Wildlife Department and the state Water Resources Control Board. The two-hour meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the Davis Veterans Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th St., Davis. The event will be webcast at cwc.videossc.com.
Planners consider bigger Arden sign
The Sacramento Planning and Design Commission will consider an amendment that allows a Point West shopping center to replace its small multi-tenant street sign on Arden Way with a larger 20-foot-tall sign comparable to what other retail centers have installed. The shopping center houses Party City and Chuck E Cheese’s across from Arden Fair. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m., City Hall Council Chamber, 915 I St., Sacramento.
Environment survey to be reviewed
The Public Policy Institute of California will host a lunch discussion of its latest statewide survey examining Californians’ thoughts on the environment. The event is free but attendees should register in advance at http://www.ppic.org/main/event.asp?i=1817 because space is limited. The discussion runs from noon to 1:30 p.m., lower level of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1017 11th St., Sacramento.
