Murder sentencing for firefighter

Orville “Moe” Fleming, the career firefighter, fire academy instructor and onetime Cal Fire battalion chief convicted of second-degree murder in the May 2014 death of girlfriend Sarah Douglas, faces sentencing in Sacramento Superior Court. Prosecutors say he faces a possible 15 years to life in prison. Douglas was stabbed 14 times, including the fatal wound, and strangled with a bed sheet.

Meeting on banking for pot merchants

State Board of Equalization member Fiona Ma, a San Francisco Democrat, will convene a meeting examining the banking challenges of cannabis businesses in California. The event will feature BOE members, lawmakers and representatives from the State Treasurer’s Office and Federal Reserve System. 10 a.m. to noon, California State Board of Equalization, Room 121, 450 N St., Sacramento.

Craft beer festival in Historic Folsom

The Folsom Chamber of Commerce hosts a craft beer festival from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Railroad Turntable in Historic Folsom. The event features more than two dozen breweries, food trucks and a live DJ. The turntable is between Leidesdorff and Sutter streets near the Historic Folsom light-rail station and parking garage.

Music, hula dancing at Family Friday

The Crocker Art Museum hosts Family Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event, inspired by Eric Carle’s “A House for Hermit Crab,” features music, hula dancing and face painting. Special activities for 10- to 12-year-olds are also included. 216 O St., Sacramento.
