Taco Bell tests out cheesy new menu item at Sacramento locations. What is it?

Taco Bell is trying out a cheesy new menu item — and it’s available exclusively at Sacramento-area locations for a limited time.

The Crispy Triple Stack Taco debuted at local Taco Bell restaurants on Thursday, April 24, according to a news release by Taco Bell.

It’s a “bold new twist on our iconic Crunchy Taco,” the popular California-based fast food chain said.

Taco Bell introduced the new taco, also known the Quesocrisp Triple Stacked Taco, along with other new menu items during its Live Mas Live Event in New York City on April 4, USA Today previously reported.

What is new taco on Taco Bell menu?

According to Taco Bell, the Crispy Triple Stack Taco shares some similarities with the Double Decker Taco Supreme, a fan favorite introduced in the 1990s that’s recently been revived as part of the chain’s Decades menu.

Taco Bell’s Crispy Triple Stack Taco features an outer shell “made with 100% crispy cheese,” plus a second layer with a blend of mozzarella, pepper jack and cheddar cheeses “melted between a warm flour tortilla.”

A Crunchy Taco with seasoned ground beef and spicy ranch sauce is “nestled inside” those layers “for a crispy, crunchy bite,” the release said.

What else is new on Taco Bell menu? Drink, chicken nuggets

Also on April 24, Taco Bell added two new menu items at locations nationwide.

The Dragonfruit Freeze, a “refreshing, slushy drink swirled with vibrant pink dragonfruit flavor,” was introduced in 2020 and re-released in March 2024, the release said. It’s now back at Taco Bell locations across the country for a limited time.

The fruity freeze costs $3.69 for a 16-ounce cup and $3.89 for a 20-ounce cup, Taco Bell said.

Crispy chicken nuggets have also returned to Taco Bell locations after “nonstop demand” from fans, according to Taco Bell.

The chicken nuggets, which were originally introduced in December, are made with white meat chicken and “marinated in zesty jalapeno buttermilk flavor,” then coated in “crunchy, seasoned tortilla chips” and fried to “crispy perfection,” the release said.

To pair with the nuggets, Taco Bell is offering a trio of sauces: Hidden Valley fire ranch sauce, Bell sauce and jalapeno honey mustard.
