Meat-laden semi-truck crash closes ramps on Sacramento Capital City Freeway

Areas of Sacramento’s Capital City Freeway are closed after a semi-truck carrying approximately 50,000 pounds of meat crashed and caught on fire Sunday.

At approximately 6:18 a.m., a semi-truck struck a vehicle on the ramp connecting the Capital City Freeway to Highway 50 before jackknifing and catching on fire, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol said. No injuries were reported.

The ramp from southbound Capital City Freeway to westbound Highway 50 is closed, as well as the T Street ramp to the Capital City Freeway. There is no estimated time of reopening, the spokesperson said.
