Mild weather returns to Sacramento but rain may be coming

Sunshine and mild temperatures return for most of the week before another chance of rain moves into Northern California for the start of the weekend.

Mostly sunny skies are forecast for the Sacramento region Tuesday, with a high temperature around 72 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The wind will blow from the northwest up to 10 mph by Tuesday night with a low near 52 degrees.

A mix of sun and clouds and high temperatures rising to the upper 70s are forecast this week until rain returns Friday night, the weather service said. A chance of rain is forecast for Saturday, but sunshine is expected to return Sunday.

The complete seven-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Calm wind becoming north northwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. South southeast wind 3 to 7 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 76. South wind around 6 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77.

Friday night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.

Saturday: A chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 71.

Saturday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73.
