A driver who was killed in a collision on Highway 99 north of Sacramento has been identified as Chattar Dhari Singh.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office said Singh, a 62-year-old Sacramento resident, was fatally injured in the two-vehicle crash around 6 a.m. Monday near Elverta Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was driving a Toyota Camry north on Highway 99 when he made a U-turn in the median. His car was struck from behind by a Ford F-250 pickup driving south in the fast lane. The impact sent both vehicles into a ditch, officials said.

A man driving the pickup and his son were not injured, the CHP said.
